Installing DAKOTA on Ubuntu 16.04

 

General Details

1.  Install necessary packages

sudo apt-get install gcc g++ gfortran cmake cmake-curses-gui libboost-dev libboost-all-dev libblas-dev liblapack-dev libopenmpi-dev openmpi-bin openmpi-doc xorg-dev libmotif-dev

 

2. Download Dakota Binary

Link:  Download from here

 

3. Extract archive file

cd /path/to/Dakota/install/directory

4. Rename Dakota binary executable folder


mv dakota-<release>.<platform> Dakota

5. Setting your path

Replace $INSTALL_DIR with the absolute path of your installation directory


gedit ~/.bashrc

export PATH=$INSTALL_DIR/bin:$INSTALL_DIR/test:$PATH

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$INSTALL_DIR/lib:$INSTALL_DIR/bin

Save and close

 

6. Update changes in your terminal window

source ~/.bashrc

 

7.  Fixing the issue with the libmpi1.so.1 not found

ln -s /etc/alternatives/libmpi.so $DAKOTA_INSTALL/lib/libmpi.so.1
