Break out Modeling
Intro
A break out model is a simulation model which represents a small portion of the initial model. For very large models this technique is useful to capture a more accurate representation of the stress state of the structure with a significant reduction of the computation run time
Uses of Break Out Modeling Technique:
- Mesh convergence studies
- Fatigue simulations
- Updating specific part in an assembly / design changes
- Optimization studies of specific portions of structure
- Reduction of simulation run time
Bellow is a case study for the break out modeling method and stress state comparison between break out model and full model.
